Kitchen Hack: Mellow Onions

The use of raw onions is very popular is salsas, salads, dips and other dishes.  Although they can really brighten up a dish with their unique flavor and crisp texture, they can also be a little harsh on the palate.

Hack #24: Mellow Onions

If you use raw onions in a dish that you are not going to eat immediately, rinse the chopped onions under cold running water, then blot dry. This will wash away the sulfurous gas and soften the usually harsh flavor of raw onions.
